Laura Linney's performance of weak and yet powerful characters has helped make her one of the top American actors. Her mother was an unmarried single mother who was a nurse. Linney became interested in theatre during the holidays by her famous father. She studied acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University in the year 2000, she made her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. In the space of two years from this, her first feature film hit the market, and next year she made her television debut. Since then, she's performed in many films and TV and stage productions. Over the course of her career, she won several awards, among them the two Golden Globe Awards. However, in spite of the array of awards, theatre has remained her first love and she continues to perform both on screen and on stage.
